revived from the dead

So yesterday I traded in lots of bn Plecos for 2 aequiden metae . When I got home, I floated the bag in my 40 gallon quarantine then proceeded to drip acclimate them in a 5 gallon bucket. I just put a sheet of acrylic over the bucket thinking the metae aren't great jumpers. While this was happening, I was remodeling my bathroom and had to run to lowes to pick up a couple of items I needed to finish the job as well as some PVC to build a canister filter. I was gone for about an hour and sometime in that time frame, one of my metae jumped out of the bucket. When I got home, I found a dried fish on my garage floor. After yelling out some curse words that I'm pretty sure everyone in my neighbor hood can hear, I grabbed the fish and put it the tank. I then stood there for 15 minutes with the fish in my hand, moving it back and forth to make sure it got some water passing through it's gills. The fish finally pushed away from my hand and laid in the corner of the tank. The fish was in rough shape; torn fins, loss scales, cloudy eyes. The fish at this time mostly laid on the aquarium floor. It swam at times but had a hard time doing so. Today the fish looks much better, the cloudy eyes is getting better, the fins looks like they are healing, and the fish is swimming now but looks like it is having a hard time doing so. I hope the fish pulls through. What I learned from this ordeal is not to underestimate a fish and its jumping abilities and use a heavier lid.
