i used Algaefix in my 30gal. tank about a week ago when there were no fish in it. I moved about 20 nickel size angles in today. When i went around to turn off light tonight I foun 4 dead fish and maybe 5 more that were about dead. Have any one used this stuff and had the same problem? I move all the angles bake to my 90 gal and hope the fish live.

Thanks Rick

Hmm... couldn't tell you as I don't use any algae chems on my tanks. I used algae destroyer when I first started fish keeping but I learned that controlling algae is always best the natural way which means water changes, lots of them. Algae is a result of too much nutrients in the water for it to feed off of so get on top of the water changes and limit the amount of time your lights are on. I get a little algae build up on my tanks between water changes but it's easily scraped off.

I do not use any chemical algae controllers. If you have a fast growth rate you need to control the factors that help it grow. Like Ratlova30 said water changes help a lot, also not to have direct light on the tanks.

I do however use UV sterilizers on my tanks. This cuts down on free floating algae which can make the water appear greenish. It also seems to slow the rate of surface algae growth down for me also.

May also help to identify what strain of algae you have going, some algaes live off different things. Maybe if you posted a pic we can help identify it for you.
