My Tanks - As of 10/15/10

This first one is my 5.5 gallon tanks.

Tank: Marina 5 gallon
Filter: Marina Slim S10
Light: 13w Fluorescent ~8hrs a day
Heater: Tetra Submersible 2-15gal heater ~Keeps it between 77°-79°
Substrate: Eco Complete, red gravel on top

Plants: Java Moss, Najas roraima, Ludwigia palustris.
Inhabitants: 3 white cloud minnows (to help cycle,) 3 otos, mystery snail

Future plans: remove WCMs and start a RCS colony :D

And here is my ~3 gallon experimental tank

This tank will always be changing until I find something that works with a tank the tall, but small.

The tank is 7" in diameter and has about 16" of water in it.

Tank: Cylinder ~2.5 gallon
Filter: Whisper 3i
Light: 10w Mini Compact Fluorescent ~8hrs a day
Heater: Tetra Submersible 2-15gal heater ~Keeps it between 77°-79°
Substrate: Eco Complete fluorite mix

Plants: Val Nana
Inhabitants: 4 juvenile guppies, 1 amano shrimp, 4-6 mixed snails

The red gravel is my least favorite part too. Next time I have a few hours of free time, I plan on removing everything, and replacing the substrate with eco complete and sand, rather than eco complete and gravel. Or mixing the eco complete and gravel and then adding more eco complete on top. That may give it a more natural look. What do you think?

If you leave the red gravel in the tank and you try to cover it soon or later it will surface. If you decide to keep the existing Eco try to remove as much red gravel as you can. You have a small tank, I don't understand why you want to cover Eco with sand or gravel(I like the black colour of Eco).
