Moon Lights

So I have been playing with a few different things to try and create a somewhat natural "moonlight" nightlight and wanted to start a topic to see what others are doing and show off what I have done!

I am currently running a LED pond light that I have kicking around tucked at and angle up into the reflector area of my flourecent fixture. The best thing about doing it this way is that you get a direct light pattern that reflects and moves as the top of the water moves... looks real. Downfall is I think I spent a boatload on this pondlight ~$100

Some fish are so much more active at night, my upside down catfish hides behind my powerhead all day then as soon as I turn the main lights off he is out on the hunt and a blast to watch.

The big Idea I am working on now invloves a 9LED flashlight, and one of those solar powered optic switched landscaping lights. This tank is near a window and the idea of the nightlight being self sustaining and switched by natural light makes my happy.

More to come, what have you guys/gals done?

I just modded my hood last night. I inverted an old tank fixture I took apart and reflected it off the cowl. It's not moon light but more like dawn and twilight. What I was going for any who. But now I wanna mod it some more for moon light thanks to you. lmao. Pic is slightly darker than RL.

I bought about 2 months ago a half dollar size led moonlight from Conway Tropical for around $35 and I have it in my 55 gal. hex and have it placed inside the back of the tank pointed down at an angle, right under my spray bar so I get alot of flickering in the water, looks pretty cool.

I use a variety of lights from superbrightled.com to achieve both daylight and moonlight in one of my show tank. That way you can achieve the brightness, color and penetration that you prefer for the given tank.
