I AM SO EXCITED. This morning I discovered that a pair of my "Orneys" had spawned right in the front of the tank, in am absolute perfect viewing area. I had seen them chasing and digging for sometime now, but I had assumed they were too young because I had only gotten them last fall. I was feeding and noticed that the small articles of food seemed to be bouncing off the sand. Upon closer observation it was actually very, very tiny fry. Almost completely free swimming. COOL HUH!!!! I have no real idea when they spawned. But I am assuming it was at least 10 days ago. Maybe even before Fish head and I had discussed how little is known about their breeding habits. I am hoping they will do ok in the tank with the parents and the other fish in there. The parents are loosely attentive to them. Momma watches closer than Dad. Dad is allowed closer than any others, but even he is not allowed too close, before she runs him out. I really have no idea how many yet. I probably saw a half dozen this morning. I will try to get some pictures. but it could be difficult.
