Do angels spawn without a mate?

I am new to having an aquarium. Amongst other fish I have 2 angels. I noticed one of my angels got a swollen body since yesterday, but seems otherwise healthy and constantly begging for food. (or it seems like that to me). The pair of fish seems always together but I have no idea about their sex.

I am unsure if it has too much to eat, sick or pregnant. Do angels spawn without a mate? If pregnant how long before she lays the eggs.

Thanks a lot for any help.

it is possible for two females to lay eggs without a male..

keep an eye out.. the angel will either absorb the eggs, lay eggs or possible to become egg bound.

you should be able to see the ovipositor if she is ready to 'spawn'.

they can also become bloated and not carry eggs.. you may try to feed peas sans the casing.. I usually par boil and remove the pea casing then feed them the pea mush.
