Yard work...

While not 'Yard work', I have been working outside in our shed. With the new grill that was much more expensive than any others Ive owned, the decision was made to stor it in the shed during the winter. The problem was the lack of floor space in a 10x12 shed. So I put up blocking in between the 2x4 walls, primed everything and put up hangers for the yard tools. Looks like this:

Actually got a little bit more done than that picture, with blocking put in on the first two sections of the back wall area and it is completely primed in white too. The right side wall is partially primed and I ran out of primer so I had to stop for a while. I had got some free little storage shelves over the years and have those in the shed but they are really useless and tiny so I am getting rid of three of those and bringing in a 5' wide rack I ordered that is 6' tall and will allow me to fit bins in to organizer better. Super happy with the way it is turning out and giving me a sense of accomplishment out there. Likely a few more long days out there to finish but getting very close to finishing.

We had remodeled our home down to the studs so I thought I had weatherproofed and sealed everything well... turned out I missed a few spots. The gap of the t-111 siding under the trim boards apparently went right up into the attic. This was found out because of all the bee activity. So I spray foamed and caulked a bunch of the openings on the front of the house that seemed to attract the most bees.

Its all been trimmed of excess foam and I also caulked some other spots too. Just need to touch up paint these and I still need to fill in another 8 foot area. This should cut way back on the yearly bee visits to the front of the house.

Seemed like a very short window of enjoying fall leaves this year. With all the wind and rain most of the leaveS came down quickly. Ive filled my yard waste bin twice now with leaves, waiting for it to get emptied and then I can do a final leaf clean up.

That's interesting, because as you can see from the pics I just posted, I've got maybe 20% of the leaves down so far...

Was just the main maple in the front that had the most brilliant color that dropped really fast the other maples have lost the majority of the leaves on them but there are a few clingers left. Still have plenty of fall clean up to do but the majority of the leaves are done.

With all the wind we lost a section of an old gnarly lilac

We had been working with it for many years to get it into a halfway decent looking vase shape but it really was not placed well in the yard to begin with and was a pain to mow around. Im thinking of taking it out completely now and just seed over it and make it lawn.

I only went through 3 yard waste bins for the majority of my leaves. I have to touch up in the beds to finish but not much left. started trimming/pruning my lilac that had a limb break off in a storm. Not bad looking with the reshaping I did so I might try and keep it.

After some aggressive pruning to the lilac that lost a large section a while back in a windstorm. Actually looks decent but Im still at that point where Im not sure if I want to take it out completely. At the time when all the flowers on it were dropping I was really want to take it out but then I hesitate... Well my yard bin is empty and if the rain stops for a bit maybe it will go.
