    Fungal infection?

Just discovered several shrimp in my heavily planted 40 have a white feathery tuft on their rostrum. Same place on all. Haven't been able to get a good photo. The tank is about 3 months old. Heavily filtered. 20% water changes twice a week. Pressurized CO2. Know that fungus outbreaks are...

    Otto fry

Just did an article for GSAS Newsletter. If your're not a GSAS member, here's some info: I started with 4 wild-caught otos -- 1 female and 3 males (best guess). I purchaaed them from Rachel O'Leary (http://msjinkzd.com/) and they arrived fat and happy. I believe what started the breeding was...

    Otto fry

Otos Thriving... Over two months on and the Otos continue with two eggs about every 10 days. All have hatched and survived. 14 at last count. Here's a shot of the "trough" with some Otos, shrimp and Repashy Soilent Green.

    Baby Otos Getting Bigger

Just discovered the third round of fry few days ago... This is one of the first group, now 5 1/2 weeks old. Getting big! (Almost the same size as the juvenile RCS nearby).

    Otto fry

Awoke this morning to find Otto fry (Otocinclus vittatus) attached to the front my 26g bowfront. Thought those Ottos seemed playful recently... Planted tank with nothing else but CRS and fully grown neon and cardinal tetras. Other than hanging some veg, adding some algae scraped from my jungle...

    gH and plant deficiencies question

Out of the tap, our well water has a kH of 161.1 ppm & gH 107.4 ppm (API test). One would think this means pretty good levels of calcium, magnesium and carbonate. I'm curious if anyone knows if the API tests are remotely reliable or can be thrown off by high levels of silicate or other...

Lace Rock -- too rough for community tank?

I've delayed adding a cichlid tank, but would like to put some my lace rock to use. My concern is that it might be too sharp for less "durable" species. Thoughts?

    surprise of the day!!!!

Yeah... but sometimes it's nice to see what's in the tanks and on the shelves, and to talk to the folks that work there. Right now, when I think of my LFS, it looks a lot like a UPS truck. ;)

    surprise of the day!!!!

I'm new here, so forgive if this idea has been floated before: Sounds like enough interest in fish from the Wet Spot to justify a field trip. Kind of a group-buy outing. (If enough on board with purchase requests, perhaps a discount could be negotiated...)

    Greetings from Poulsbo!

Hi, all. An avid aquarist for many years, I've just returned to the hobby. Set up a 29g planted tank with my children and have just completed cycling. Adding Nerites, several Ottos and some Neocaridina this week. Feels good to be back! Mike

    What Snails

I'm in Poulsbo. So "locally" means anywhere within 100 miles :D

    What Snails

Hi all! New here. Where am I most likely to find Nerite's locally?
