hey I have a 29g that I want to sep up as african tank, I have about 35lbs of base rock and argonite/crushed coral substrate.
most people have tolm me I should not keep africans in a tank that small, but I already have a 54g and
don't want to sep up another one that big. do you think its a good idea? and if so how many could
I house? thanks

Horrible idea. All of that rock-work displaces water so you will have far below what you think is 29 gallons of water in there. Secondly, with Africans you want more fish so the "top dog" doesn't beat up on the same ol fish every single time. I know I dread aquascaping my 55gallon only because it's a foot deep. I'm convinced that the smallest tank I'll ever buy from here on out will be a 100 gallon for the shear fact it's worlds easier to lay out and execute a design with 18" or more front to back.

If I had a small tank just dying to get filled I'd to a planted tank where I'd never need to gravel vac. Easy peasy Smile Hope this helps a little bit Adal.
