Crazy the last confirmed sighting of wild San Marcos gambusia was in 1983. A sadder tale there and probably related is the swath of freshwater mussels going extinct due to pollution and modification to the streams and water ways. Good find on this article, I don't pay enough attention (and probably should).

I know there are people here who have Gambusia that are nearly extinct and I'm wondering if it's the same fish. Maybe reintroduce them.
