I'm not sure what screens your looking at. Under ever screen I can think of you'd use to PM it says contact via PM.
For instance you could click PM under their name on the forum posts. You could click PM on the navigation bar on the top of the page and put in their user name.
You could click on their name, and under contact choose PM. I'm attaching a picture showing where you could click to send a PM through their profile if that is your preferred way of doing it.
