You keep up the good work, dude. This is amazeballs. Give Momma a clothes pin for that snot locker or tell her to git out of the garage!

Just my humble opinion.
*snork*

She is being a trooper! I know she doesn't like it but she hasn't been verbal about it so in my world that's great! The end result is going to be amazing I just know it! I think she does too.

I believe I have my final draft of the sump, Simple is better right?!

Pump over hear -----------Baffle to keep heaters in water here--------Wet dry drip here---- 'Gutter' open cell foam everywhere else

20170926_202129.jpg
Foam flanks the media chamber that gets 'rained' on by the upper sand basket

The sand Basket above- this holds the drip bar (will again probably revise this- but later)
This sprays over the layered combo of
Polyfil\scrubbies\sand\baskets\scrubbies Mechanical filtration; CHECK! Change polyfil bi-weekly is all the maintenance this will need for at lest a year!
(pealed back layers for the below pic)

Now the $h!T's gettin REAL!
20170926_201627.jpg

I am committed!
I need to drill some holes to pass my wire through the studs to remove this outlet from the back wall and relocate it to the right of the gaping hole in the wall-this was cut trough an existing seam that had failed due to moisture- I plan on doing my first real drywall work here anyways, so why not commit, right? o_O

This rewire job will go further too, encompassing lighting- stay tuned...

This is what I am supporting as well.

This is epic! Can't wait to see how it all looks.

I've never had a tank really big enough to need a sump but plan on doing so in the coming year. It is slowly making sense to me. It still seems intimidating though. The step by step with the explanations and pictures is super helpful.

I have a love/hate relationship with my external canister filter. ;)

The sump is working through it's cycling now, using the no fish/food method. I still smell the sponges in the water after x2 water changes, so I got some time to build. I cleaned up around my furnace and water heater in preps to run electrical and install my Deep Sink hook ups and drains. No more pulling hoses through the house to do water changes (if at all...thinking drip system).

So this very rough sketch is my layout for plumping this bad boy in... I got some inspiration from the King of DIY and plan on fabbing up an inline heater. I plan on replacing the heating in my current system anyways do to age, might as well hide it, right?

Minor update...
Wired and patched

Mudded and drying20171002_225445.jpg Relocated now an HD quad outlet firmly mounted. The light timer is the black box, hanging above.

Got ahold of my co-worker/ex-plumber to come assist with the deep sink/drains installation- I have the sink, but no faucet or plumbing.

Oh and the sump and tank are starting to 'smell' right, with the food/no live + Prime cycling started last week.

@Racersk - that smell is the scent of future success!

I had a bout with anchor worms that I *THINK* I have under control with medicine. But the usually come back after a few water changes. Sooo.. This fresh sump is another measure against that. I have to build up the bacteria before I swap the sumps. There is a distinct smell I know we all know-and mine now finally didn't smell like sponge release agents...There is always a downside to DIY. :(

upside. It will filter cat sized dookie this guy lays down... :poo
PG rated full size- thumbnails are the money shots- just as my oscar came to scoop them up! :rofl:poo:rofl:D

Nothing but mudding and sanding the back wall for now. I might break out the saw tomorrow and skin/stain the stand. I also need to cut out the foam inserts for the bottom back and sides and yes, the bottom 1/3 of the stand will be completely insulated from sound and heat retention.
