In tank uv filter

Anyone use these?
What exactly do they do?
I have never had one untill now and my tank is soooooo clean!

They're great for dropping in to clear out green water or other things, I have one that I just use temporary if needed in any given tank.

Sorry to get off track but I wish somewhere close to me had some SAE's. I have been wanting to get a couple because all my wood Is a BBA carpet now haha.

UV doesn't do anything to BBA in my experience. For me it was all about fertilizing plants and getting a school of sae's to deal with it.

I only ran the internal uv filter temporary because they are generally large and an eyesore to have in the aquarium at all times. Also I hear for the planted tank running UV all the time isn't necessarily good. That being said, my 20 gallon has a UV filter inline with the canister filter and so far I haven't seen any negative impacts. I don't have a working inline UV filter for my 75 yet, the one I got has a leak due to cracks in the housing, do'h!

They're great for keeping ich outbreaks under control.
