Huge Spawn

The last couple of days I have been chasing babies around my 35 column, tearing up my bunch plants in the process. I have a Black Lyretail Molly who mates constantly with a Dalmatian Sailfin. Her past fry have half to full lyretails, slightly larger fins, and are are most commonly black with silver on their bellies although some are lighter. She was way past due this time so I let her out of the breeding box.

Hah.

Two days later she gave birth.

I have about 30 fry in a net breeder now. I'll post pictures this afternoon, doubtfully with a full count.

I think she might still be spawning. I woke up and found 5 more fry. I hear that large adults can have up to a hundred.

woah...look how big they are! this is after how long??? Just feed crushed flake right? You dont have to hatch baby brine, or microworms righ?

a few days old, and yes, flake mush works great.

thats so awesome.... I am expecting some german ram fry soon... and was lookin at what I had to do to feed.... and they cant even fit freshly hatched brine shrimp in there mouth... lol, I gotta get microworms, then brine shrimp.... no wonder there so expensive.

I need to switch to a easier fish to raise..lol

Platys mollys and guppys.

I didn't intend to breed them. I just had a few of them (minus the guppys). Now I have at least 50.
