My 150 has a HOB, that is not used as a filter. Instead, other filter returns run into it, and it back into the tank.
Plecos like fast flowing currents and tonight I heard some strange noises up there and walked over to find the Gold Nugget Plecostomus climbing the HOB outlet!! At this point he has been doing it for a while, but it is spooky having an expensive fish climbing out of the tank. Also pretty dang cool to see it doing this. This Gold Nugget is not afraid of anything. For peace of mind, I may put some mesh around the edges so it cannot flip outside the tank, but can still climb the HOB.
