Corydoras sterbai poisoning.

Hi all. Just got home from the GPAS monthly meeting with our auction winnings Monday evening and discovered the bag of 4 cories was very cloudy looking, with 2 of the big guy's not looking good at all. We rapidly moved them to fresh water, but 2 of them didn't make it. They were repackaged the evening after the auction with fresh water and the new larger bag was filled with O2, vice normal air for the drive from Portland to Whidbey Island. We've never had any problems with other fish, but cories are the exception.

A couple years ago, Ian Fuller was giving a presentation on the cory species and specifically talked about this phenomenon. What is the solution for preventing this from happening again in the future?

The solution Ian had given was to pre-stress them in the tank to release the toxins, then bag them.

Yeah, I remember that was his method. But from immediate "lessons learned," seems the cories can regenerate the toxin in about 12 hours, so the process needs to be done again from the get-go.
