My girlfriend and I bought 3 orange laser corydoras on Wednesday. This morning I found one stone dead, and I'm trying to figure out what went wrong. I drip acclimated them for about an hour. Water this morning read 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 10ppm nitrate and was treated with Seachem Prime. There aren't a ton of hiding spots in the tank (driftwood is shipping in on monday) so I added a mug as a makeshift cave.
Now that I have two, I'm kind of at a crossroads. I don't want them to die of stress due to not having a school, but at 15 a pop I want to make sure they don't keep dying. I've read that different species of cories will school together, so would buying a few less expensive (possibly hardier) cories help them out? Should I just wait it out and see if these two make it before adding more?
