Aquavitro fertilizers

I've been using this product for about a year now and notice amazing growth when used. Normally I dose ferts once a week after water changes. In doing so I definitely see a boost in growth in the 2-3 days that follow. So much that I thought I would start a thread and see what others experience with this product is.

Perhaps you can educate me just a bit. Do you use all of these products each week? Only some?

I tend to stick to sand substrates, I'm willing to use root tabs to supplement, and certainly willing to dose weekly. No CO2, but I have a bottle of Excel that I'm trying for the first time. Finnex lights on 2 of 3 planted tanks (10 and 29G), and a zoomed bulb that came with the third planted tank when I got it.

Don't want to turn this into a "how to" thread, as I can certainly research it elsewhere, but I'd be interested to hear your essential Fert philosophy, especially as you've obviously had some success!

As a side note, I think a box of these (or something very similar looking) was up at the June GSAS auction. I want to say it went for something sort of ridiculous like $20 or $30. I was tempted, but totally clueless, so I dropped out early on that one!

I'm currently using Aquavitro Carbonate (Potassium source), because I've noticed some pinholes in the leaves of my plants... I haven't noticed any changes...yet. But ... we'll see. With this line of fertilizers I started with the iron supplement when I started collecting red plants. Iron helps bring out the reds in plants. Using a plant deficiency chart, whenever a deficiency would begin do develop I would research then pick up a different bottle. I also have flourish products. I've used them for years. Comprehensive and Excell are good products. However, these are combination fertilizers. Great for small tanks at $12 a bottle will last a couple months. For my usage I would have to purchase gallon bottles of this product. Also I noticed with combination fertilizers I get more algae growths due to excessive ingredients such as phosphate. With the aquavitro line I control individual fertilizers. So when I see an excessive amount of algaes develop on the glass or plants i can lower and even cut off phosphates or raise dosing in nitrogen and carbon depending on plant and algae growth.

I googled "aquatic plant defiency chart" and got a plethora of really cool graphics and charts back, so that makes pretty good sense that you respond to the plants with a specific element based on their actions in the tank. With a chart like that and Poke's awesome videos, I feel way smarter. I dunno if that will translate to better plants, but we can only hope!! Thanks for the responses.

Thanks! The plant journey is a fun one. it's not as frustrating as keeping fish, in my opinion. And ferts will take you a long way. I'm pretty certain that those infographic charts on plant deficiencies will be a great tool to have when it comes to finding the right balance in your tank!
