So I got a used 56g (30x18x24) off c-list. I want my little monster of a convict to live there but am looking for a few ideas of tankmates...

Unfortunately because your psycho Con has been alone in solitude for so long, you may have a hard time finding anything to survive in there with him.

He is NOT 'psycho', he is just misunderstood. :joker:

I would like to keep the little guy. In the big picture he could go in the 210g when the other fish are big enough to hold up against him. I know the footprint of the tank limits me on stock. On AqAdvisor when I pick 'show only suitable' fish for my tank, it actually said I could have a green terror in there  Would I possible be able to fit a single small Amp. Xilo?

I have also wanted to do an African oddball tank for a while. A butteryfly fish, Congo tetras, a brown knife, a Senegal bichir, a small syn cat. Something like that.

Any small SA/CA cichlids to go solo with maybe a cat and some larger tetras. (I thought about my Gold sev in there but Ive read its too small)

Did I see this correctly? I thought that they looked like Mr. Poo. :joker:

ive got one of those 56g column tanks myself. love it and have always done discus in it, although a single species of mbuna has always been on my mind to toss in there, or a tang biotope type situation. just my opinion here and GL in your stocking ideas.

Ive been eying the tank for a while at Petsmart but did not have the $239 + tax to spend along with all the other stuff needed. I picked this one up for $80 and it has a Penguin 200 and 100 on it along with a heater, gravel, decor and a water changer (python style). I will take much of this stuff and pack it into my 29g and 37g tank set ups to sell off. This tank fits perfectly upstairs in my office. Looking forward to getting this thing set up!

they really look good with a hard scape of rocks and wood so dont be afraid to go a little overboard on both (at least for you :p)

The tank looks huge by the 29g it will replace. It will have some pretty light stocking so maybe I will concentrate more on the entire aquascape as opposed to just the fish like in my 210g.

I would like a larger schooling tetra. Maybe a school of 10 Buenos Aires , or blind cave tetras, something that could survive 'Spaz', the convict. When I got the tank the only fish they had left was a giant pleco, probably at least a 12" common. Right now he is in the 29 with the convict until I can figure out what to go with him.
