10g low tech makeover.

So I bought this tank and stand yesterday for $30. It came just as the first picture shows. Plants (jungle val, unknown crypt, and dwarf sag) LRG rock, piece of Malaysian driftwood, 50w heater, aqueon internal filter and stand . Second picture I pulled everything out, replaced the rock and put a finnex monster ray that I wasn't using on instead of the t8 it came with. All the plants and wood were covered in bba, so they were all pulled and sprayed with hydrogen peroxide. That is where it stands. I will post more as I decide what to do next.

Update. The monster ray is no good for plants haha. My jungle val is starting to melt :/. Switched to a stingray, hopefully we'll be all good now.

I hate to break it to you, but I think the Stingray is about the same as the Monster. Can you confirm? How are the plants doing?

Nice transformation! Don't you just love that Stingray? I see you don't have Jungle Val now (or are they on the far right - & small?). Flourish Excel will melt Jungle Val sadly. I love the black substrate, wood and row of small plants in foreground. Makes me want to set up a new tank one of these days!

So, are you dosing with Excel anyway? I am wondering why your Jungle Val are short. Did you have to trim the dying leaves if you did use Excel? Inquiring minds need to know!

Haha, I'm not dosing excel. Before the val was in this tank it was in my display tank with a planted+, I believe that the high light keeps the val short. It seemed to get wider leaves and spread outward instead of up.
