I have a 20 gallon tank housing 2 axolotls at about 64-68 degrees consistently. I do 60-90% water changes once weekly, however the algae buildup is really intense and occasionally slime starts growing on the tank. The tank does have a sponge filter. I've been trying to keep small lillies and duckweed in the tank. The lillies start to die and the duck weed gets all slimey. I treat the tank with fertilizer, leaf zone, and co2 booster as I do with all my other tanks but no luck. Any ideas?

If you're looking for stuff that does well with Washington water and cold temps, look into Anachris. It's illegal here in WA because it's an invasive species. With that being said, go to a nearby pond and you should be able to find some in there. I know for a fact there's Anachris growing in the pond on the Bangor-Trident sub base here in Kitsap.
