Phenacogrammus interruptus (Congo tetra) spawn attempt

How many Congo Tetras do you have in the tank? My problem (one of many) while trying to spawn them was after I moved all of the other fish out of the tank the Congos became skittish and too scared to spawn. It seemed like they were only willing to spawn when the lights were just right and there...

    Congo Tetra Eggs

Well, since I put the moss in the box, I haven't seen the fry, but that's not surprising since they're nearly invisible. I'll get back to you in a month, since tetra fry are notoriously difficult to raise and I've never done it before. I think I should wait until I succeed at raising some before...

    Congo Tetra Eggs

Update: I've got fry! They're nearly impossible to count because they are tiny and translucent, like splinters of glass with eyes, but I know I have at least three. The nematodes appear to be cleaner crew, only eating mulm, so they could make good fry food and there's no reason to add chemicals...

Finnex Fuge Ray Planted Plus - Ray 2 - Monster Ray - Light Combinations

I have a Finnex Ray II and love it, except the cord is too short, so it can't reach the powerstrip I have on the floor. My only complaint.

    Congo Tetra Eggs

Okay, so the first batch of eggs didn't go well. Some were infected by mold and the others just disappeared. I noticed most of the information on the internet about breeding these fish is also very brief and not very informative. But luckily my fish gave me another batch two days ago! I'll list...

    Annual Killifish Thread!

Woops. I accidentally gave your post a (-). Don't know how to undo it. :violent: Thanks, they're a CARES specie that the new GSAS president has been breeding. They're a really cool fish and I'm hoping I'll be able to successfully breed them.

    Annual Killifish Thread!

I've been keeping constanciea, an annual from Brazil for a little while. I had some bad luck in the beginning with them dying/being killed in a community tank. I even had one choke on a bloodworm and die! I now have them set up in their own nano tank, where no other fish can kill them. The...

    Congo Tetra Eggs

It only took about a year, but my Congo tetras finally spawned directly over the egg-catching tub I made. That means I have a little tub with water, eggs, and other "crap" that floated its way in there. Now what? The eggs are super-delicate, which I discovered after touching one which didn't...

    Need Some Advice on Sand

Cool! I'll have to see when I can make it down south sometime. @Gryphon: I know it's only two pounds, but I always feel like the stuff at Petco/Petsmart is just painted rocks or isn't the best for sandsifters/diggers.

    Need Some Advice on Sand

Is 50lbs the smallest amount they sell? I'm also looking for some black sand, but I think I only need about 2lbs...

Nori - What Brand & Where do you Purchase it from

I'm sure someone in the ID sells unseasoned Nori. I know that I buy my frozen food at QT and it's the cheapest place ever. Maybe because it was smuggled... The owner of QT allegedly facilitated a sail between a smuggler and an undercover Fish and Wildlife Agent. The fish were also farm-raised...

    Lace Rocks Bad?

I'm going to give it a try. I usually use colder water to induce spawns, but when fish in this tank were showing signs of illness I switched to using more hot water than cold. For the last month or two, in that tank, it's been a bonanza of different symptoms. I thought it was the rocks (which...

    Lace Rocks Bad?

I'll do a water change tomorrow and start only using cold water. Come to think of it, it was only recently I started using warm water... about the same time I got the rocks. I'll let you know what happens.
