    my baby african tank

Hey lloyd, sorry if I sounded discouraging, I just wanted you to know the potential impacts of what you are doing. You sounded as if you were probably unaware. I keep many of the some fish, and wish you great success with them!

    my baby african tank

They won't show any aggression, cyps don't do that... they'll just become stunted and die off over time. They require at LEAST a 48" tank, preferably 72" or 96". And you'll want to have a school of them for them to be relaxed. You may not have to worry though, because as that frontosa grow's...

Yeah, I'm finding those Hara's are crazy aggressive to each other. Don't really give a crap about other species though, so they fit nicely in a mixed tank. I sell all of mine when they're young to one of the mail-order suppliers, so they never get big enough to sex. I'm willing to sell to...

I've heard that guy is a no-good so-and-so.... :) Hey all. I'm still in the hobby, just been busy with real life stuff. No significant changes other than I've stopped selling my fry locally because it was just too much of a hassle. I guess I did get my breeder setup a little more complete...

    Holding Demasoni

Hey Sand be sure to siphon those 3 bad eggs out before long. They'll mold and kill the other eggs if you're not careful. Nice tumblers, they look just like mine. :)

    Flush your water heaters!

My observation is that fresh water (with salts) does in fact promote significant spawning activity. But my water isn't cold. LOL I think that varies by fish though.

    Flush your water heaters!

I do realize that water heaters can be the cause of heavy metal deposits in the water, but it's not an all-or-nothing thing. My water heaters are 4 months old. And yes, I actually did have a water test done - 2 actually, 1 with hot and the other with cold, so that I could tell the difference. At...

    Flush your water heaters!

So when "flushing" the water heater isn't it necessary to supply water, under force, to flush out contaminants/sediment trapped in the bottom? I've never done this myself, and am just interested.

    Flush your water heaters!

I'm changing 50% on 2 125g tanks and 50-100% on 12 20-40g tanks. I don't lose fish to water changes. Never have. Just been lucky, I'm sure.

    Flush your water heaters!

I use warm water. Doing large water changes the way I do, there's no way my fish would survive exposure to pure cold.

My first saltwater tank 20 gal.

Get the RODI. With saltwater, you want to remove *everything* and then add back in just what you want, in the quantities you want it. Lots of live rock is usually a good thing. But you want to have an aquascape that pleases you. Personally, if I were setting up a saltwater tank, I'd be heading...
