    Vote for August POTM!

I reported the abuse. I did not ask to have my own posts removed. I know where the delete and edit buttons are. My posts did not contain any of the inappropriate language you mentioned. The other reasons for removal of my posts is pure censorship in this type of media. I could see not announcing...

Yeah, that shouldn't be a problem at all.

    Acclimating new fish

Ahhhhh ok...well, if it's actually just the oxygen hitting the ammonia, then I can see that. I've just never heard of that happening before by adding tank water to the bag. Then again, most of my experience is with bettas, which are shipped in individual bags and I've never had any other kind of...

*has this sudden image of a PRINCE kissing a frog for some reason* Personally, I've never tried it. If you mean an african dwarf frog, then I'm fairly sure it wouldn't be an issue. In general, individual bettas make rather nice community fish unless there is something in the tank they THINK is...

    Crown Fin Bettas

When I do regular water changes on my smaller betta containers, I usually let the water sit overnight with the conditioner added before using it. But I do about a 80% to 90% water change on them and have never had a problem with lethargic fish due to the changes. :/

lol Thanks. I didn't see a lot of detailed information on bettas posted by other members except just linked or copied from other sites. Since bettas have always kinda been my specialty in the hobby, I thought I'd share what I know. :)

    Acclimating new fish

All of the professionals that I have dealt with have always recommended adding tank water to the bag to prevent shock due to differing water chemistry. The breeders I've ordered fish from in the past have always recommended adding tank water to the bag and sometimes removing water from it as...

    Crown Fin Bettas

If you've only tried him on dry foods, that might be the problem with feeding. He may be from stock that was fed on live foods up til transport. I'd recommend getting a cheap package of frozen food to try him on. And if you really don't want to place another fish near his tank, you can try...

    Crown Fin Bettas

Different colors or fin types don't have different behaviors from other bettas. Some are just less active if they can't see another fish. Some are also very picky eaters. I have a halfmoon male that wasn't very active til I put a female nearby. He will only eat a couple granules of food at a...

    Breeding Bettas

Since no one else seems to have this posted anywhere, I thought I'd do it. This is the best setup and method I know for breeding and rearing bettas. Water Conditioning: This part is especially important if you're using city tap water. I recommend using NovAqua to precondition the clean water...

Question - small white specks on glass and free floating.

Re: Question - small white specks on glass and free floating. Well, if it wasn't moving and it's gone now, it's unlikely that it was anything harmful.

    double sword?

That is a lyretail platy and yes, it is male. lol The gonopodium (had to use the proper term) on these looks different sometimes and can apparently get too long to be...functional. ...guys, pay attention to that statement! Size matters, but not in the way YOU think. :P

Question - small white specks on glass and free floating.

Re: Question - small white specks on glass and free floating. So...filter was moved, debris appeared, then it cleared up on it's own? Still sounds kinda like lint to me. :P

    Acclimating new fish

You wanna float them to allow the water temp to even out and gradually add tank water to the bag to even out the water chemistry in case the pH, water hardness, etc is different. I like the tube drip idea. But I'm curious how you'd do that while floating the bag to prevent the bag water from...
